Litt’s Forge is my place on the internet where I can share my experiences, thoughts and processes regarding Mindfulness, Heartfulness and Well-Being. My name is Martin Litt-Wilson, Litt being an old English word “Litt”, meaning light, and forge being a place of creation, of change. It is also a gentle nod to both sides of my family who have been creators using fire, blacksmiths and potters.
Over the last twenty years I have been a marketing and events professional for a number of high profile companies such as Philips, ASDA, DKNY and many more. I have extensive experience of the music industry as A&R, booker, agent and manager, working with artists including The Staves, Mumford and Sons, The Strokes and Scouting for Girls.
In 2010, I suddenly realised that my life was not the one I envisaged when I left school. Yes, I had two healthy children and very happy marriage, but my work and environment wasn’t sustaining me on a physical and mental level. I had always suffered with migraines, but by 2010 they were at the highest level that I had experienced, I was suffering repeated cluster migraines and this in turn created stress at work while I tried to catch up on lost work time.
My wife and I took the decision to change our lives, we planned the future, moved away from the corporate world and increase the quality time with our children and each other. We moved from Sheffield to the lovely market town of Pickering with the North York Moors, Dalby Forest and Sea just a few miles away. It was during this time of upheaval and transition that I first completed my first qualifications in life coaching and mindfulness meditation. Using my new found knowledge I have applied this to my own life, controlling my migraines from three every week, to just three every year!
I discovered at first hand what life coaching and mindfulness can do – and now I want to help others discover the same. Rather than creating a system to strictly follow, life coaching and mindfulness provides you with the tools to create a better life, one that works for you and not the other way around.
Over the last ten years I have been developing my own theories and approaches to using tools such as mindfulness, emotional intelligence and compassion focused therapies. It is here, at Litt’s Forge I hope to share them with you and help you find the right tools for self-help. Of course where possible seek professional advice, but otherwise, do explore my ever growing website and sign up for my newsletters with free insights and downloadable activities.
